BIG Digital: Subsidies for digitalization in the crisis?

Berlin, October 15, 2020 – Hardly any other topic has been addressed as frequently as digitisation in many companies in the course of this year. Due to the global outbreak of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the associated contact restrictions starting in March of this year, many entrepreneurs had to and still have to face the problem of the inadequate digitisation of many small and medium-sized companies. This includes not only the topic of mobile work, but also internal processes and workflows.

With the “Brandenburg Innovation Voucher” for Digitalization (BIG digital), the Brandenburg Ministry of Economics has been providing funding for digitisation projects in small and medium-sized companies since 2018. The voucher is granted in the form of share financing (50%) of up to EUR 50,000 for consulting and training and a maximum of EUR 500,000 for implementation. In the first year of funding alone, the state subsidized 126 digitisation projects with EUR 11.8 million in funding, and a further 58 applications submitted to the ILB development bank were received at that time. In the wake of the pandemic, further high demand is expected.
